Things have been rough (but fun) over the last couple of months. Jackson has had tummy problem after tummy problem. He has reflux. He was colicky for a long time. We have had our share of struggles with breastfeeding too. I have been going to a breastfeeding support group since he was 2 weeks old and I think that is what has motivated me and kept me going all this time.
He is getting so much better now though. His reflux has calmed down. His tummy problems aren't as bad as they were. He isn't colicky anymore. And just recently he started sleeping through the night.
I have been keeping a journal of things he is doing for him when he gets older. I hope that I continue writing in it. He is sucking his thumb now, holding his head up really well, trying to sit up when we hold him. He will stand up or put pressure on his legs when we hold him, and he smiles and coos a lot. He is getting to a really fun age.
Now that I have kind of caught up I hope to keep updating as much as possible. Now when he takes naps I can usually get on the computer for a few minutes. Previously, I couldn't do that. He wouldn't let me lay him down to go to sleep.
Now you are updated....more next time.

Jackson's Birthday....
I got dressed in my hospital gown and climbed in the bed and almost immediately doctors and nurses came in and started prepping me for surgery. I had 3 or 4 people asking me questions at the same time...one trying to get my IV started...etc. Lori came and sat with me while Jason was gone and after all the medical people left. Dr. Hunt was ready to get going. He didn't understand what was taking the staff so long and Jason wasn't back. He apparently doesn't mess around when its time to get a baby. I called Jason to tell him to come back that they were ready to take me back. When Jason came up they brought him his outfit to wear in the surgery room. We took a few pictures before we left room.
I was so nervous. They wheeled me back to the room where they do the c-sections and talked me through getting a spinal block. They made Jason leave the room and sat me up on the side of the bed. I remember the lights being so bright in there and everyone was in their gloves and surgery "get up". They got the spinal block in and immediately wanted me to lay down. That thing works in seconds. I could barely lift my legs by the time they got me turned around and laying down. Jason got to come back in when they got me down on the table. I had the sweetest guy that stayed behind the "curtain" they had draped in front of my face. Jason held my hand and after they tested to see if I could feel anything, they started. Jackson was born at 2:00 on the dot. I heard him cry and I began to cry. I didn't think I would cry when he got there but I did. His cry was soft and not a hard cry. They whisped him over and weighed him and checked his vitals, got his little footprints, and wrapped him up. They let Jason hold him and Jason showed him to me. I remember reaching for him and I got to touch the blanket he was wrapped in for a short second and then the doctors took him away. Jason went with him to the nursery. That sweet guy stayed in there with me and held my arm and talked to me the whole time. I kept hearing people counting in the room. They kept counting to 23 or 24 or something like that. I asked the guy what they were counting. He said that normally people were asleep by the time that they were counting, but they were counting the number of tools they used to make sure none were left in/on me. I thought that was kind of weird. Anyway, they finished up and rolled me into recovery. I had the sweetest nurses the whole time. I remember they told me I could get out of recovery probably within the hour and go see Jackson. Jason got to come back to see me and he told me that Jackson was having trouble breathing and so they wanted to keep him under the oxygen tank for a while.
I eventually got to go back to the room but Jackson was still in the nursery. Lots of people came to visit that night, but they mostly only got to see him from the nursery window. I think my family got to go in and see him. I think Jason's family got to see him through the glass. They gave me a medicine pump with Demerol to use that night for the pain. I ended up chewing my tongue. Ughh...I don't ever want those meds again! My tongue hurt for a couple of weeks. I didn't get to see Jackson anymore that night other than at 2:00 when he was born.
The next couple of days are a blur at the hospital. I didn't get to see Jackson until the day after he was born. I saw him twice that day and on the second time I got to hold him for the first time. I also was able to try to nurse that day. On the 12th they took him out from under the Oxygen tent and they brought him to the room. We got to keep him for about an hour and then they took him to be circumcised. From then on I was ready to leave the hospital. I did not like it there and I wanted to go home and sleep in my own bed. I cried all day on Saturday. I was just tired and wanted everything to be ok and to be at home.
Mom came and stayed several days with us to help us get started.

Better late than never.....The story of Jackson Lewis' Arrival...
Well, my last post was March 2 and I said I was so ready to see little man.....little did I know 6 days later he would be in my arms.
So...where do I start. I'll start with March 9, 2010. I had a doctor's appointment that day and I was so excited because I was going to have a sonogram and see if "Baby J" (who we all know as Jackson today) had flipped. He was frank breech at the time and the doctor could hear the heart beat below my belly button so I was in high hopes that he had turned. Jason took off work to go with me that day because he always did when I had sonograms. We got to the doctor and they called us back right away into the room to do the sonogram. Immediately we knew he had not flipped. The lady took an awful long time to do the sonogram this time. She kept looking and measuring and looking some more. I asked her if everything was ok and she said yes that Jackson was doing fine. His heartbeat was strong, his kidneys were good, etc.. So when she left the room to give me time to get dressed I told Jason that she took too long doing the sonogram and I wondered if something was up. Well we went back to a room where we could talk to the doctor and of course he told us that Jackson had not flipped yet. So I asked if we were probably going to be looking at having a section and he said yes probably. He then said there was a slight problem with the amniotic fluid in the placenta. Next, he made a statement that almost made me throw up, yet giggle with excitement. He said if I had been 37 weeks he would have taken the baby that day because of the low amniotic fluid. I think my eyes got as big as half dollars as I turned to look at Jason (who's eyes were about the same size). The doctor went on to say that he wanted me to go home and get off my feet to rest, drink at least 6 huge glasses of water to see if we could get the fluid level back up. We were to come back at 10:30 the next morning to measure the fluid level again. So we left the doctor's office in awe of what we had just heard. All I could think about is that nothing was ready....his room...his clothes...nothing. We had the baby bed up and that was about it. I called Mom and told her and she about flipped! ha! I called Lori and she started helping me prepare. She went and bought me pajamas and 3 premie outfits for Jackson....because the doctor said he was only 5 lbs. 9oz. I drank water until I was sick and felt like a balloon that was about to burst because it had been overfilled with water. I washed clothes and packed a bag and tried to get some last minute things done because I had a feeling that Jackson would be with us the next day. I (for some odd reason) had already prepared myself to have a section. I was determined to not let it get the best of me and also I thought I'd rather have it 4 weeks early than wait 4 more weeks. This way I would already be in the healing process when he was supposed to arrive. So I went to bed that night and prayed that Jackson would be ok and that whatever needed to happen would happen. The next morning, March 10, I got up and had to start drinking water AGAIN. Uh...I did not want to drink anymore water. I was still full from the night before. I went on to work that morning because of MCT testing, and while I was monitoring in the hallway I wrote notes for my sub just in case. Thank heavens I didn't procrastinate about getting my lesson plans done for my sub. I finished them the previous week. I was starting to get nervous. I had all these thoughts going through my mind like...Am I ready for this? Will I be a good mom? Did I forget to pack anything? etc, etc...
Jason met me at Dr. Hunt's office at 10:30. They pulled us back pretty quickly again into the sonogram room. It turns out that there was less amniotic fluid than than the day before. Immediately after the sonogram we went back into a room and Dr. Hunt said that we needed to go ahead and have Jackson. It was more dangerous for him to stay in my tummy than for him to come early. So off we went to the emergency room to get admitted to the hospital. I can't even describe how we felt....even now I feel that feeling while I am writing about it. We were excited, but nervous, happy, but unsure why there was such a problem, anxious, and did I say excited?! :o) We were calling everyone to let them know. Mom was at work and dropped everything to come. Teresa had just gotten off work and zoomed down. As soon as we got upstairs to the triage room I made Jason go home and check on the dogs. We had called everyone and all were on their way. This was about 12:00.
Jackson just woke up...needs to eat....more to come!

35 Weeks!
Five weeks to go. This seems unreal. Time is just flying by. We went back to Tupelo the Friday after our last 3d/4d sonogram to retry and see if little man had moved. I even drank a Mountain Dew right before we went to help move the cord around and everything. He did not cooperate. I think it was worse than the first time. I even drank a small Diet Coke after I got there. He just kept his little feet and hands right in front of his face. His cord was the biggest problem though. It just would not budge. It was right in his face! uggghh! Michelle was so sweet though (lady that did my sonogram). She was so sad that we couldn't get a good picture. So I guess until he is born that we will just have to look at the one side of his face. Stubborn already I guess! :)
My stomach is really growing now. I am still not huge but I am big enough. I don't want to grow out of my maternity clothes! LOL! Starting to get crampy a lot and getting really tired all of the sudden. I go back to the doctor on Tuesday. The doc is going to do another sonogram to see if Baby J has turned. Right now, of course, he hasn't. I am starting to think that he is not going to, but if that is the case I have left it in God's hands. I know that HE will take care of us either way. I think I will be able to find out how much he weighs. I can't remember if I said before, but I have gained 15 lbs so far and he weighed 3 pounds and 13 ounces two weeks ago. So we'll see....
After the visit Tuesday I will start going once a week. Can you even believe it???
I am so ready to see little man!! More later....

3d/4d sonogram
I am so excited because we got to get a 3d/4d sonogram. Our doctor in Oxford doesn't have one. I called the other day and asked about it and they said they were getting one, but they weren't sure when it would be in. PLUS they wanted $250 and I found a place in Tupelo called babyskickin (http://www.babyskickin.com/) and they seemed really nice. It was going to cost $179 for a DVD set to music of the entire sonogram, a CD with about 30 pictures on it, 2 black and white pictures, 2 colored pictures, and a subscription to some website where you could keep a blog or something. I thought that was a pretty good deal so I booked them for this past Thursday (Feb. 11th). They told me to drink a lot of water and lay off the caffeine, so I did just that. I almost drank a little coke on the way there but I decided not to. I really should have though because this little boy was being stubborn. We went in and Michelle (the lady who works there) was the one who did our sonogram. She was precious! When she started the sonogram we noticed right away that his hands, feet, and cord were right in his face. We could only see one side of his face but we could see his precious little nose and lips. They were so defined. We initially thought he looks like Jason. I think he has Jason's nose. He smiled a couple of times and tried to suck his thumb once and we even got to see him open his eye once! Michelle tried and tried and tried to get him to move around by patting my stomach. She even had me turn over on my left side to see if we could get a better picture. Of course she was having to shoot the video between his legs just so we could get a view of his face because he is frank breech in my tummy. So after about 30 or more minutes she decided she wanted me to drink a little coke and she gave me 2 Hershey's kisses to eat. She told me to walk around and move around a little and see if we could get him to move. Jason and I tried to have a pep talk with Baby J while she was out of the room. When she came back, I turned over on my left side again so we could try one more time. The cord had moved out of his face a little and he had moved his hand somewhere, but his foot was still up near his face. We caught a little shot without his hand in his face but I think by this time he was tired of us tapping on my stomach because his forehead is wrinkled up and his mouth has a smirk. Its a really cute picture though. We gave up after a few more minutes of trying. Michelle was so upset because we didn't get a great picture. She is going to do another sonogram on her own time this Friday. She is so sweet! If you know of anyone who needs a 3d/4d sonogram tell them to go to babyskickin in Tupelo because it is worth your time. She really took her time and tried to get a good picture and seemed genuinely concerned about how we felt about the sonogram. I would go back in a heartbeat if we have another baby and want a 3d/4d! Here are the only 2 pictures we have for now. Hopefully we will get 2 good ones on Friday. I'll keep you updated!

My sweet baby boy is hiding his face and sticking his tongue out at us!

I think by now he has just had enough :) I bet he is thinking, "Leave me alone!" We had been working him for about an hour by the time we got this picture!

32 weeks and 2 days
Well two more weeks have passed. They are flying by now...I guess that is what happens. Let me get you updated. A lot of stuff going on these last couple of weeks. First of all, we started prenatal classes last Thursday. We talked about the usual stuff I gues and she told us we would be watching a live birth this Thursday (today). It went relatively quick I guess. I was proud of Jason because he came with me and didn't complain at all. He has been really good to me lately...not that he isn't good to me all the time...but has been extra sweet. He is so caring and concerned and wants to make sure that I have everything I need and that I am comfy...etc.. So anyway, we went to that on Thursday, Feb. 4th.
Then on the 7th of Feb. I had my shower in Winfield. I went down on Saturday and spent the night with Mom and Dad and the boys were home, too. I went to church Sunday and the shower started about 1:30 and lasted until 3:00. I got so many gifts, which I am so thankful for because we have hardly anything clothing wise that Baby J can wear when he is first born. I got a couple new born outfits, lots of other outfits for all different ages, several bibs, several burp cloths, some picture frames, a little money, and a gift card. I am so thankful that so many people thought of me. I was kind of disappointed at the same time because I was looking forward to seeing so many of my friends from there and only about 10 people even came to the shower. Everyone sent gifts, which of course there is nothing wrong with that, but I just haven't seen everyone in a couple of years and was looking forward to visiting and catchin up with people. There were lots of people that were sick that day and it was Super Bowl Sunday so I guess that probably had a lot to do with it. I did get to see some of my closest friends though, so I won't complain too much :) I am really not complaining. I guess I just really miss everyone. I enjoy the company of the people I invited. That's all I am trying to say I guess....I will post some pictures soon of all of that.
Then on Monday, Feb. 8 we had another sonogram. I was 31 weeks and 6 days in the sonogram. We found out that he is breech unfortunately, but the doc says don't worry about it until I am 37 weeks and he still hasn't turned. I don't think he would have even said anything about him being breech if I hadn't mentioned it. It really bothered me. I had to fight tears during the sonogram. I know that everything will be fine. God and I had a talk and I left it up to him to take care of because I know worrying isn't going to do anything. It doesn't bother me as much now. If I have a section I will be fine and at least we will know exactly what day he will be here. Anyway, during the sonogram he was smacking his lips and I think he opened an eye for a second. He was soooo cute! I can't wait to see him in person! We could't get any really good pictures of him, but she did take a few. AND not only is he breech he is being a little gymnist in there. He is in the weirdest position. His head is right above my belly button and he is facing my right side. His little legs are folded up, like a professional diver, right in front of his face and he loves to keep his hands over his face. I mean he is in the pike position basically if you can imagine. I don't know why he is so comfy like that. Oh and he weighs 3 lbs. 13 oz as of Feb. 8th, 2010.
Here is one of the pictures. They mostly all look the same so I will post just one today.

30 Weeks, I think
Well I am 30 weeks now, I think anyway....hah..they are all running together. Fit Pregnancy says I am 31 weeks. We will know for sure in 2 weeks though if I am on track because I get to have another sonogram, FINALLY!! I wish I could have them everytime I go!!!! I am ready to see him!
I went to the doc today. I have gained 1 pound since my last visit two weeks ago, which brings my grand total to only 10 pounds! I want to get as big as I need to get for him to be healthy but I sure am enjoying not getting too big at the same time! I don't think I will handle being large very long. I think too its like one of my friends said...God is watching out for me because he knows my back couldn't handle a ton of weight. I definitely think this is true. He has given me a great pregnancy, even with the sickness at the beginning.
Doc said that everything was great! He said heartbeat sounds good and head is down and keep doing what I am doing. So I guess I am going to do just that. If I can get my national boards done soon I can focus more on the baby and what I want to be focusing on! Pray for me!!
